For this video assignment, I decided to do a tutorial for opening a lock in 30 seconds (or less!). I was successful at completing this task. To record, I used my photobooth app on my laptop and moved them over into iMovie so I could do overlapping with words and compile everything together!
First off, I’m going to start this by apologizing for the amount of um’s and hair flips you’re about to witness.
For this assignment, I decided to go ahead and pick a scene from the movie “A Postman Only Rings Twice”. My first thought was to go ahead and YouTube the clip of the movie I wanted! Luckily it was actually already clipped around the part I wanted. I used 4k Video Download to convert the video into a clip that I could save to my desktop. I then used iMovie on my macbook pro and then did my own recording for my analysis! Here we go!
Business card assignment
Do you think your man is cheating on you? Do you want to test it out to make sure he is being faithful and won’t fall for two extremely beautiful women? Well, we have the company for you. For a flat fee, we will make sure your man isn’t being unfaithful and if he is, then well… we’ll take care of the rest.
Above is our business card for the MaNOIRpulators business. To make this I used a template online which allows you to make a faux business card to preview. I used both my character and again, Kendall Parker’s character because we were the seducers in our radio show. I made up some facts for our business and used the logo that I made for our radio show as the logo for the card!
For this assignment I did the writing assignment entitled “Dear Diary” but instead of doing this in the perspective of a Disney Villian, I am doing it in the perspective of my noir character Sylvia while using Lawrence, Tiffany Yowell’s character as my character’s love interest.
It’s me again. I know I haven’t written in awhile but between the visits to the Black Widow and the travelling around the globe to find the murderer of Jewel’s and My friend I haven’t found the time to write anything. Diary, I think I have a crush. These are words that I never thought would come out of my mouth. A CRUSH. His name is Lawrence. He’s so mysterious and handsome. He’s a murderer, just like me! Two peas in a pod, like grandmother always used to say. I couldn’t see myself falling in love again after all of the men who I have seen mistreat their women for me but this man, Diary, he’s different. He’s unique. He give me butterflies. He’s… someone I couldn’t see myself seducing with anyone else, I want him all to myself. Alllllll mine, Diary. Heck, the jealous is rumbling inside of me just telling you about him. I write all day for a living and this is something I have found the hardest to put pen to paper on.
I love him, but could he handle my maNOIRpulating lifestyle? Could I handle his mysterious darkness?
This is ridiculous, I know this will never work. I’m too much of an evil woman who will never halt to the thought of loving a single man. I love the thrill of the murder, the thrill of the chase.. I’m not ready to commit to anything besides a murder.
Yours truly, xoxo,
I decided to do the story map assignment for this week.
The story map included my character dossier Sylvia and Kendall Parker’s character dossier Jewel. I kind of used this as a spin off from our radio show, this is because of how I did the seduction using both Jewel and Sylvia like we did in the MaNOIRpulators.
The story line behind the map is that the two women are trying to find the man who killed one of their good friends. In order to do this they have to travel all the way across the world to try to locate him and do their friendship duty of killing him off. The pictures I used for the map all came off of a google image search!
Hope you enjoy!
YEAH I CAN RAP INSPIRE
Tiffany’s “Yeah I can Rap” blog was amazing for one of the audio assignments. It was crazy creative and it really allowed her to give insight on her character. One of the things that stood out to me about her rap was how much effort she put into making the script, creating the background audio, and just doing the rapping itself. I thought it took guts to actually rap for everyone to hear but she totally did it and I give her a lot of kudos for that! Way to go Tiffany, you inspired me to break free of my shell and take the leap to do things that I wouldn’t normal do. Thank you!
So I decided to listen to the class radio shows and do the live tweet along Wednesday evening! Part of this was for personal reasons (our own radio show for the class was playing)!
The three radio shows I listened to were The MaNOIRpulators (our show), Dead Silence, and The Steadfast Sleuths. For each show, the one thing that stuck out to me was the ability to create depth within the shows through the sound effects. I thought the transitions in the shows were also very smooth and had a very realistic feel. In all three of the shows you felt like you were in the surrounding (or at least you could imagine everything).
Dead Silence was the one show I remember the best and I think that was due to the impact of the sound effects on the show and actually creating the atmosphere. I thought the way the group collaborated on everything made it flow smoothly and effortlessly. I really enjoyed the commercials that were used and the creativity behind them. Overall, I thought it was an awesome show and everyone who worked on it seemed to have done very well.
Here is one of my tweets from the SteadFast Sleuths tweet-along!
One of my tweets about one of the awesome commercials during Dead Silence!
And finally, a tweet from our own radio show which I listened to as well from the one and only Jim Groom #tootingourhorn
I loved listening to the radio shows from other groups, not only was it entertaining but it was nice to see how the other groups collaborated together and to actually experience their final products! Everyone’s shows turned out fantastically!
For my last audio assignment for this week, I decided to do the bird call assignment where you make an audio clip to attract a certain person. I decided that my certain person that I am trying to attract should be my character dossier Sylvia! The sounds I chose for this assignment was a cat call, bar scene/party sound in the background, pouring of an alcoholic beverage (PSA – don’t listen to this if you have to go to the bathroom!), and clinking of glasses, p.s. I found all of these through freesound. I used Audacity to compile the sounds together and overlap them on top of the bar scene sound, much of this was simple copying and pasting the sounds together and adjusting sound volumes so you could hear the sounds I wanted to emphasize. Since my character enjoys the party and social scene I thought this would be a good decoy to attract her!
I decided to challenge myself and go for another 4 star assignment for this week. I did the SoundBoard conversation assignment. Before I go off into detail about what I did for this assignment, I would first like to ask where the heck SoundBoard has been all my life?! I love all the sound effect options and I’m wondering how I overlooked it for so long… Anywaysssss, down to business.
Basically, I went on to SoundBoard and just randomly search through the movie sound clips they had and then I got a random idea that I could have a conversation with Dory from FINDING NEMO! I chose this one because that is like my favorite movie ever, and two because I feel like Dory and I relate on many levels.. Scary, I know. So I found a few clips that I like the best (particularly the “do ya, DO YA?!” one and compiled them together in audacity with me responding to her! Hope you enjoy!
